Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is found in fruits and vegetables and is crucial for immune health. It boosts white blood cell production, acts as an antioxidant, and supports tissue formation, strengthening the body's defenses. While not a preventive cure, Vitamin C can reduce the severity and duration of illnesses. It also promotes collagen production, supporting skin and bone health, aids in iron absorption, and enhances brain function. The daily recommended intake is 90 mg for men and 75 mg for women, with higher doses beneficial during seasonal changes for additional immune support.
